Emergency crews were called to a popular recreation area in Fish Creek Provincial Park on Monday afternoon.
Crews were called to Sikome Lake in the city’s southeast at about 4:00 p.m. for reports that someone was in trouble in the water.
Witnesses say they saw a man and a child in a boat on the water when it tipped over.
“At that time prior to our arrival, four people went into the water from a rubber inflatable, three people were rescued from the water by onlookers at the beach, AHS was first on scene and they transported one person to hospital,” said Stu Laird, CFD Battalion Chief.
Laird says a child was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure and crews are still searching for the fourth person.
“We don’t have any more information except a 29-year-old male is still unaccounted for,” said Laird.
Emergency crews continue to search the water with a dive team and boats.
The fire department says visibility in the water is not very good and is less than two feet.
