Lawyers are delivering final arguments in the first-degree murder trial for a Calgary couple accused of killing six-year-old Meika Jordan.
Spencer Jordan and Marie Magoon are charged in the death of Jordan's daughter Meika.
Police attended a home in Temple in November 2011 for reports of an injured child.
Meika was taken to Alberta Children’s Hospital but died from blunt force trauma and abdominal injuries.
During the trial, the Crown said that Jordan and Magoon caused the fatal injuries and that the little girl was tortured for several days before she was transported to hospital unconscious.
Jordan and Magoon pleaded not guilty to the charges and claimed that Meika’s injuries were the result of a fall down the stairs.
Last week, the Justice in the case allowed comments made by Spencer and Magoon to police, during an undercover sting operation, into evidence. The couple admitted to the officer that Meika was abused in the days before her death.
Final arguments are expected to continue until Tuesday.
