Calgary police are now saying that the death of a young girl is a homicide.
Police were called to a home in the 6700 block of Temple Dr. N.E. at about 7:15 p.m. on Sunday November 13.
Meika Dawn Jordan, 6, was rushed to Alberta Children's Hospital with undetermined injuries and died the next day.
CTV Calgary spoke to the little girl's stepfather, Brian Woodhouse on Wednesday.
"We are quite shocked. We thought this might happen but we still held that slight hope that maybe this was just a tragic accident," said Woodhouse.
Police are not releasing the cause of death at this time and charges have yet to be laid in the girl's death.
The Homicide Unit continues to investigate.
