Hundreds of green balloons were released in communites across Canada in honour of missing five-year-old Nathan O'Brien and his grandparents Alvin and Kathy Liknes.
Rod and Jen O'Brien were surrounded by family and friends for a balloon release in Calgary on Tuesday night.
Members of the community also continue to drop off flowers and mementos at a make-shift memorial on the front lawn of Alvin and Kathy Liknes' southwest home.
The couple and their grandson, Nathan O’Brien, dissappeared from the Parkhill home on June 29.
Police conducted an extensive search following their disappearance and an AMBER Alert was issued in an attempt to find them.
On Monday afternoon, Police Chief Rick Hanson confirmed that evidence collected in the case suggests the three were murdered.
Condolences have been coming in from all over the country ever since the three were reported missing and a memorial on the lawn in front of the Liknes home is growing by the hour.
Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi said he is “terribly saddened” to hear the news. “My heart goes out to the Liknes and O’Brien families,” he said.
Brian Ferguson, president and CEO of Cenovus, where both Rod and Jennifer O’Brien work, said that everyone at the company is “deeply saddened”.
“My thoughts are with Rod and Jennifer O’Brien,” he said on Monday. “It has been a heart-wrenching two weeks for them, and I can only imagine how devastating this news has been.”
Members of the community have also tied green ribbons to balconies and staircases in support of the family.
"As a community we're heartbroken. It's a tragedy. We want to be able to comfort so I see this as a symbol of hope and comfort for the families," said green ribbon organizer Lorrie Swinson.
A group of supporters is calling on Calgarians to pay their respects to the trio by releasing a green balloon into the sky at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday. For more information on the event, click HERE.
