Kira, an Amur tiger at the Calgary Zoo will celebrate her second birthday Friday.
She and her two brothers were born March 30, 2012. The two brothers were transferred to the Assiniboine Zoo in Winnipeg to help with the Species Survival Plan.
Amur tigers are listed on the IUCN Red list as endangered and it is estimated there are 300 to 350 tigers left in the wild.
Amur tigers, also known as Siberian tigers, are the world’s largest cats. The live in eastern Russia and there are a few in China and North Korea.
