Lethbridge Polytechnic is set to host a major conference next month on an irrigated crops update, just as the school has been recognized as a top national research institution.

The event, scheduled for Jan. 23 at the Lethbridge District Exhbition Agri-Food Hub and Trade Centre is a partnership between industry, farmers, academic researchers and government representatives from across Western Canada.

It aims to look at irrigation plans, scheduling and strategies to ensure a sustainable agriculture future into the new year.

The conference arrives in town just as Lethbridge Polytechnic cracked the Top 10 of the 2024 Research Infosource ranking of Canada’s top 50 research colleges.

This is a first for the college, which narrowly missed the cut last year, finishing 11th.

Lethbridge Polytechnic says this achievement is a major milestone, allowing it to increase the number of paid student researchers to 87 this year from 47 the previous year.
