Police say they have now made an arrest in connection with the shooting death of a Calgary man on Saturday night.
On Tuesday night, police say they've arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with the shooting death of David Quach, 27.
Quach was found fatally injured in the northeast community of Monterey Park at around 9 p.m. on Saturday night.
A witness who was driving by the scene on California Boulevard N.E. say they spotted Quach lying on the ground beside a vehicle, and then saw him get up, get into the car, and attempt to drive away.
Quach struck the witness' car, and then fell out of his vehicle onto the ground once more.
He was rushed to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Police continue to investigate the shooting and say the incident is very concerning.
"In this case it happened mid-evening. There was obviously traffic in the area and the potential for a passerby or a resident to be injured was great," said Staff Sergeant Doug Andrus with the CPS Homicide Unit. "I can assure everyone that we have devoted, as with all homicide investigations, sufficient resources to ensure that we conduct a complete and thorough investigation."
The name of the suspect is not being released until he is formally charged.
Quach's death is the 16th murder in Calgary this year.
