Seats in the Alberta Legislature were up for grabs in four electoral divisions in the province and the Progressive Conservatives claimed all four seats in the byelection.
In Calgary-Elbow, Education Minister Gordon Dirks claimed the position. The seat was vacated by former premier Alison Redford when she quit in August.
It was a wide open battle in Calgary-West as five candidates ran for the seat formerly occupied by Ken Hughes. Mike Ellis took the spot with 4843 votes.
Health Minister Stephen Mandel ran in former premier Dave Hancock’s riding of Edmonton-Whitemud and won with 6003 votes.
Jim Prentice was elected in Calgary-Foothills, a seat once owned by Len Webber.
