A man in his forties is dead after a Sunday morning stabbing downtown. 

According to police, at approximately 6:30 a.m., officers responded to 4 St. S.E. and Dermot Baldwin Way,  near the Calgary Drop-In Centre.  Police discovered an unconscious male suffering from several stab wounds underneath the 5 Ave flyover.

EMS transported the man to the Foothills Hospital in life threating condition.  The stabbing victim was pronounced dead by hospital staff.

The CPS Homicide Unit continues to investigate the man’s death.  An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, March 18. 

The identity of the victim has not been released.
