Calgary police are investigating after a man was found dead in an alley in the Dover Glen area on Thursday morning.

Police were called to an alley in the 2700 block of 41A Avenue S.E. at about 8:15 a.m. by someone in a nearby home.

The Homicide Unit has been called in and they are treating the death as suspicious.

“The officers are doing scene security. The Homicide Unit is investigating and our Crime Scenes Unit is currently out collecting evidence,” said CPS Duty Staff Sgt. Jim Shaw.

Police say a dog was found in the yard and has been taken in by Animal Services.

Nyamar Nhial has lived in the area for a couple of years and says she was shocked to see a large police presence in the community.

"I never seen anything like this in this neighbourhood so it makes me scared," she said. "I saw a guy, they are interviewing him. They get him out from the house and then they were talking to him, they put him in the police car."

Police have not released any information on a suspect and say it is still early in the investigation.
