This week is Alberta Works Week and the province is hosting a number of events, including many in Calgary, aimed at helping people get back into the workforce.

One such event is a workshop in southeast Calgary to help people start their own business and ensure that the budding entrepreneurs are successful.

For many people who attended the event, it was their first chance to see what it takes to be self-employed.

Officials say that during these tough economic times, the government needs to make sure all Albertans have the tools they need to find work.

“I think with the rising unemployment rate, we are hoping that these events will be well attended; better attended this year than previous years,” said Minister for Human Services Irfan Sabir.

This is the fourth year for the Alberta Works Week.
