City administrators are expected to present city council with a new report about the possibility of progressing Calgary's plans to pursue a formal bid for the 2026 Winter Olympics next week.
Daorcey Lebray, communications advisor for the mayor's office, says that the details in the report have yet to be finalized, but will include a corporation called BidCo, a board of members to create the formal bid.
The corporation will include representation from the city, province, federal government, the Town of Canmore as well as representatives from First Nations communities and the Canadian Olympic Committee.
While it also says that that commitment doesn't necessarily mean that a formal bid will be made, it is a big step towards that end.
