A man, believed to be in his twenties, has succumbed to his injuries following gunshots in the northeast on Saturday evening.
Shortly before 9:00 p.m., officers responded to the 7000 block of California Boulevard Northeast in Monterey Park and discovered an injured man in the driveway of a home. The man was suffering from bullet wounds to his torso and lower body.
EMS transported the shooting victim to hospital in serious condition. The wounds proved fatal and the man passed away in hospital.
Members of the CPS tactical unit and K-9 units scoured the neighbourhood for evidence and HAWCS performed an aerial search but no suspects were located.
Police believe the attack was targeted and investigators are attempting to piece together a description of the suspect or suspects.
An autopsy is scheduled for early this week. The identity of the deceased has not been released.
