A two-vehicle collision in Calgary's northeast on Friday sent a child to hospital with serious injuries.

Police say the crash happened shortly after 3 p.m., at Centre Street and Livingston Avenue N.E.

It's believed a 2020 Volvo, southbound on Centre Street, collided with a 2008 Mazda.

According to EMS, a child was transported from the scene in potentially life-threatening condition.

In the aftermath of the incident, police closed the intersection.

Motorists were advised to seek alternate routes, and 1st Street N.E. was recommended.

No further details were available at the time of this writing.
