A 34-year-old woman has been charged in connection with the death of 24-year-old Tyler Sanderson who passed away following an assault in Marlborough Park.

In the evening hours of May 15, emergency crews responded to the 5500 block of Maddock Drive Northeast following reports of a disturbance. A severely injured Tyler Sanderson was located and transported by ambulance to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Sanderson’s injuries were determined to be the result of an assault.

Police identified Lori Ann Heavenfire as a person of interest in connection with the death. On June 1, the CPS released a photo and description of Heavenfire, requesting tips from the public for information related to the wanted woman’s whereabouts. At the time, CPS Inspector Don Coleman described the relationship between Heavenfire and the homicide victim as “criminal associates”.

Police confirm Heavenfire has been arrested and charged in connection with Sanderson's death but have not disclosed the specifics of the charge or charges.

David Sanderson, Tyler's father, says that while he's relieved a suspect is in custody,  he believes other people have yet to come forward with critical information related to the investigation.

Calgary Police Service officials expect to release additional information regarding the ongoing investigation on Monday.
