Lethbridge police have charged two teenagers in connection to a Thursday evening armed robbery which sent one man to hospital.
At approximately 8:00 p.m., two masked suspects entered the Gas Plus location on Jerry Potts Blvd. W. and demanded cash from the employee. One of the suspects was armed with a knife and his accomplice was brandishing what appeared to be a firearm.
During the robbery, the male with the knife stabbed the 21-year-old gas station employee in the shoulder. A struggle ensued and the staff member seized the knife from the suspect, injuring his hand in the process.
The two suspects fled the store without any cash.
A short time later, police apprehended the suspects, two 14-year-old boys, and seized an airsoft pistol.
The store employee was transported to Chinook Regional Hospital where he received medical treatment and was subsequently released.
The teenagers, who cannot be identified, face charges of:
- Robbery
- Assault with a weapon
- Assault causing bodily harm
- Using an imitation firearm in the commission of an offence
- Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public
- Being disguised in the commission of an offence
The accused remain in police custody and await a Judicial Interim Release hearing.
