Calgary’s has a new millionaire thanks to Virgin Radio.
The radio station held a contest, and Calgary elementary teacher Elisha Peller was chosen to come in and spin the wheel on live radio.
“Absolutely surreal, “she said. “I think I’ve won a stuffed animal before so this is quite overwhelming, but what a treat to be in a limo and get breakfast provided and just the service and support I’ve had here in incredible.”
There is a catch though… the wheel has 80 different country names on it, and the million dollar payout is in the currency of that country.
Peller spun the wheel at 8:10 am on Virgin Radio and landed on Iceland. That means her million Krona winning is worth $10,475 in Canadian dollars. Still, she said she is very happy.
“I think I’m going to pay for some of the things I already own, and actually I am very interested in traveling in the north so possibly a trip to Iceland.”
Meanwhile, Peller says she is going to take her sash with the word “millionaire” printed on it to school so her students can try it on.
