Visitors to the Calgary Zoo will now have a chance to visit the new Prehistoric Park, which now includes some new features designed to thrill and educate the young and old alike.

Prehistoric Park, along with undergoing a myriad of improvements, have also added the Dinosaurs Alive exhibition, which consists of 16 animatronic dinosaurs that swing their tails, move their arms, and let out might roars for all to hear.

“The animatronic dinosaurs, along with all of the improvements to Prehistoric Park, have made for an experience like no other,” says Roz Freeman, Special Events Advisor in a release. “This area of the zoo is much loved and we have built upon that, adding in new interpretive spaces and features that you will not see anywhere else in Calgary.”

The park also includes a number of different trails visitors can use, informative signage to learn more about the dinosaurs and how they lived, as well as a play area where kids have the chance to unearth a large fossil laying at the bottom of a sandbox.

Calgary Zoo interpreters are also available in the exhibit to answer questions and provide fun presentations for children.

Not to worry, all the mainstays of Prehistoric Park still call the area home, reluctantly sharing the location with their animated brethren.

The exhibit opens on March 19 and runs to November 1.

Officials say that during that time, further changes will be made to the exhibit to improve the experience for visitors.
