Police are investigating a home invasion in northwest Calgary and say they have several people in custody in connection with the incident.

At about 4:45 a.m. on Tuesday, police were called to a home in the 7500 block of 48 Avenue N.W.

They say the owner of the home in Bowness, who managed to get out of the home while the invasion was in progress called them, saying someone had broken in.

Officials say that they don't believe the home invasion was random, but they are still investigating.

Residents in the area say the home is notorious for people coming and going at all hours and it’s general very rowdy there. The home at the centre of the incident and a few others on the block have cause trouble in the past.

They say the victims of the invasion lived in the basement of the duplex.

One resident even says that he's seen suspicious activity at the home late at night.

The investigation is ongoing.
