Another Calgary family is grieving the loss of their son after he was killed while test driving a motorcycle in the city’s northwest on Sunday.

Yedu Dayal, 24, was killed after he lost control of the Suzuki sport bike he was on and crashed into a light standard on a street in Panorama Hills.

It is believed that Dayal was travelling at a high rate of speed and lost control on a patch of gravel.

He was taken to Foothills Hospital in life threatening condition and died from his injuries a few hours later.

Dayal’s family says he was adventurous and enjoyed basketball and tae kwon do.

He was just two levels away from testing for his black belt.

“He had a goal and he wanted to do it before he moved away for school. He promised and he decided to come every day, because we are open six days a week, so he was here six days,” said Cecilia Lee from Chan Lee Tae Kwon Do.

His cousin, Ashwin was with him when the crash happened.

“He was very special to everyone,” said Ashwin. “He always aimed high in everything, in everything he wanted to achieve. He always made sure he works hard and gets the goal done.”

Police say alcohol and drugs were not factors and that Dayal was wearing protective gear.

Dayal was the oldest of three boys and will be laid to rest on Wednesday.

The CPS traffic section is investigating.
