Race the Rockies, an annual adventure race, was cancelled after a man died while competing in it.

46-year old Marty Lund from White City, Saskatchewan was found unconscious by a group of competitors around 10:30 a.m. Saturday near Golden, B.C.

CPR was performed and the man was airlifted to hospital in Golden where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The incident occurred during the first section of the course where competitors climb to the top of a mountain just south of Golden.

The Race the Rockies course includes hiking, biking, swimming and canoeing.

Race officials, volunteers and competitors say they're deeply saddened by Lund's death and wish to extend their sympathies and condolences to his family.
