Police are expected to know more about Calgary’s 16th murder of 2015 once an autopsy has been completed later on Monday.
At about 9 p.m. on August 22, police were called to a home in the 7000 block of California Boulevard N.E. for reports of gunshots.
When they got there, they found a man suffering gunshot wounds to his chest and lower body.
EMS rushed the man to hospital in serious condition, but the victim later died.
HAWCS, K9, and other ground units all searched the area but found nothing.
Investigators have spoken to a number of witnesses, including people inside the home when the shooting took place, but no suspects have been found so far.
They are hoping an autopsy will help turn up more evidence to tell them what took place.
Meanwhile residents in the area say the people who live inside the home where the man was found just moved to the neighbourhood a few months ago.
They say they’ve never seen violence like this before in their community.
“I saw a strange vehicle pull into my driveway,” said Dan Ridley, who lives in the area. “I came out, the vehicle was backed up, the car door open. There was a guy lying on the street, covered in blood. I rushed out into the street to administer first-aid.”
Police do believe that the shooting was targeted and while they expect to release more details once an autopsy is complete, they are asking anyone who might have seen any suspicious activity in the area to contact them.
