Preparations continue for memorial services and funerals for the eight men killed in an avalanche while snowmobiling in British Columbia on Sunday.

The eight men, all residents of Sparwood, were caught in a series of avalanches in the Harvey Creek area, about 20 kilometres east of Fernie.

A total of 11 snowmobilers were in the group, but 3 managed to survive after pulling themselves out of the snow.

A public memorial for all eight men will be held Sunday, January 4th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Sparwood arena.

The memorial service for Len and Michael Stier, a father and son killed in the avalanche, will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

A prayer service for Thomas Talarico is scheduled for Friday at 7:00 p.m.

The funeral mass will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church.

The funeral service for Warren Rothel takes place Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

The funeral service for Kane Rusnak will be held at the Church Of Latter Day Saints on Tuesday, January 6th at 2:00 pm.

It will preceded by a viewing at 11:00 a.m.

Visitation for Daniel Bjarnason will take place at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1301 Ponderosa, on Monday, January 5th at 10:00 am followed by the Funeral Service at 1:00 PM

Funeral arrangements for Blaine Wilson and Kurt Kabel are expected to be announced shortly.
