A B.C. marijuana advocate on a cross-country tour to promote pot legalization was back in Calgary on Wednesday for a court appearance.

Dana Larsen, a 44-year-old Vancouver resident, is the organizer of the “Overgrow Canada” tour, which aims to raise awareness about pot legalization.

To do this, Larsen said he is handing out one million cannabis seeds in the hopes that people would plant them in public places.

Larsen stopped in Calgary in early April and was promptly arrested by CPS officers as soon as the seed distribution took place.

He was charged with trafficking and possession.

On Wednesday, Larsen called the charges against him ‘silly’.

“There’s seed banks all over Canada that sell marijuana seed to people, so the fact that I’m being charged is just silly.”

He contends that the charges will instead help his cause by drawing more attention to his campaign.

The case against Larsen was adjourned until June 10.
