The Calgary Zoo has once more opened its doors to visitors, six weeks after flooding devastated the facility, causing millions of dollars worth of damage.

While the entire zoo will take until at least December to be open, about one-third of the zoo or about 60 acres is open to the public on Wednesday.

The Penguin Plunge, Canadian Wilds, and Prehistoric Park will all be open to visitors.

Administration has also slashed their admission for guests to $10 while kids two and under are free.

However, zoo officials have capped the amount of people allowed inside at 2,500.

The zoo suffered an estimated $50M in damage during flooding in late June, with much of the island being affected.

According to staff, it will be reopening in stages over the next five months

The zoo opened its doors on Wednesday at 10 a.m. and will stay open until 5 p.m.
