Two people who led police on a pursuit in, and around, Calgary are still on the lam.

On Monday afternoon a truck, belonging to a landscaping company, was stolen after the keys were left inside.

One of the owners of the vehicle helped police track down the stolen truck. "We have GPS locators on it so [police have] been following [the truck] all the way up past Crossfield and back," says Mel Corbett.

When Calgary police learned the truck had left city limits they called for help from the RCMP.

Officers from Airdrie and Didsbury laid down five spike belts along Highway 2 in an attempt to stop the thieves.

Near the fourth spike belt, RCMP say the driver tried to rundown an officer. "The officer was holding the spike belt and standing on the side of the road. At that point it appears the suspect vehicle deliberately swerved towards the officer. The officer was forced to dive into the ditch to avoid being hit by the vehicle," says Darrin Turnbull from Airdrie RCMP.

The stolen vehicle then started heading back towards Calgary.

The suspects finally stopped at Marlborough Mall, ran inside and that's when police locked down the mall.

"We had to contain them as best we could so that we could see people coming and going," says Duty Insp. Vic Trickett from the Calgary Police Service.

It's believed the two male suspects were able to elude police by changing clothes and sneaking past dozens of police officers.

RCMP say if the suspects are caught they could be charged with attempted murder for swerving the vehicle towards a police officer.
