City officials say that a report about the 2026 Olympic Bid process, released to the public on Friday, was published by mistake.
On Friday evening, city administrators released a copy of a report entitled ‘Olympic Bid Dialogue Stage Update’, containing details indicating that financial support from both the provincial and federal governments had been secured.
The city says that that fact was wrong and staff is still working with both levels of government to secure the funding needed to move ahead with a formal bid.
Officials say that while very positive indications have been made, there has been no formal funding commitment.
The city apologizes for the error in publishing the draft report and a corrected version is expected to be presented to council in the near future.
