RCMP have shut down Highway-93 because of the avalanche risk.

The highway is shut between Jasper and Saskatchewan River Crossing.

It is expected to be closed until at least 2 p.m. Friday.

Police opened the Trans-Canada Highway near Golden Thursday morning but then shut it down again because of heavy snowfall and avalanche concerns.

Motorists driving in the mountain parks are advised to drive with caution and make sure they have winter tires on their vehicles.

Highway-93 South remains in poor driving condition and travel is not recommended because of snow and freezing rain in the area.
