Elizabeth May, leader of Canada's Green Party, made a stop in Calgary on Tuesday morning.
She met with Calgarians over coffee at the Good Earth Cafe with Deputy Leader Georges Laraque.
Afterwards, she was joined by green-garbed supporters for a march down Stephen Avenue where she made a speech at the historic Trolley Car Stage at Stephen Avenue Mall.
May said that it would be doing the city a disservice not to campaign here and the Green Party hasn't discounted any votes in the coming election.
"Everyone is happy to see us," May said. "Skipping a major metro area is a bad idea."
"Elizabeth May is the only leader to plan a stop in Calgary," said Calgary Centre-North candidate Heather MacIntosh. "The Green Party of Canada cares about the people of this city and about the West, and we don't take voters for granted."
Calgary Centre candidate William Hamilton said that the visit is excellent news for Calgarians. "It's time for Calgarians to see for themselves on Tuesday that Elizabeth May and the Green Party of Canada are the only ones standing up for the smart economy, strong communities, and true democracy Calgary deserves."
