There are small signs that the slumping Calgary housing market is stabilizing.

The latest figures posted by the Calgary Real Estate Board show that sales of existing homes jumped 50 per cent from January to February 2009.

Last month, 825 homes were sold in Calgary, down 34 per cent from February 2008.

The average price of a home in Calgary is up slightly but remains down 12 per cent from last year.

The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation says that 2009 will be a tough one for the housing market.

But the CMHC also says Calgary is doing well compared to other markets.
