A Brazilian student who was caught in the crossfire of gun violence today proved he won't let his blindness slow him down.
Jose Neto teamed up with an elite athlete to do what many can only dream of. Neto arrived at Canada Olympic Park for a thrill few will ever experience. He joined up with Olympic hopeful and world class bobsleigh pilot, Trevor Irwin, for a ride of a lifetime.
The bobsleigh ride was a gift from a local businessman. It was bought at an auction to help raise money for Irwin's Olympic training.
Neto may be blind, but he has always loved extreme sports and still feels the need for speed.
"I like sports. I like some adrenaline. I like it!"
The Brazilian student was shot in the face last September, permanently blinded by a stray bullet while walking in Calgary's downtown.
But he has always wanted to try the bobsleigh since seeing the movie "Cool Runnings" about the Jamaican bobsleigh team, which was shot in Calgary.
Neto says his new life of darkness is difficult, but there's nothing he can't do.
And now, he has thoughts of a Brazilian bobsleigh team.
