A man is in hospital on Monday morning, recovering from a gunshot wound he sustained in the northeast Calgary community of Rundle.
Late Sunday night, police say a man was at the intersection of Rundlehorn Drive and Rundlefield Road N.E. when he was shot.
The man then made his way to a home on the nearby Rundlefield Crescent, and knocked on the door.
When the homeowner opened the door, the victim told them he’d been shot.
"I guess he say the light on and he came banging on the door. I went and saw him standing there with blood all over the place, holding the top of his head, but I thought he got shot down below." said Lance Zuehalke, who lives at the home. "He told me he'd been shot, so I told the wife and phoned 911."
Zuehalke said the man told him that he was in his truck at the intersection nearby when he heard a bang and a bullet flew through his back window, hitting him in the head.
Police say the person who answered the door saw multiple vehicles leaving the scene, but isn’t sure about the makes or models of any of them.
Investigators are still trying to piece together what happened. They don't know if this was a random attack or if the man had been targeted.
The victim was transported to hospital in serious, but non-life threatening condition. He is now recovering.
Police are asking anyone in the area who might have seen something to contact them.
