A $1000 scholarship will honour the memory of Amber Bowerman, a freelance journalist who was killed on May 27, 2008.
Her memorial foundation presented the cheque to SAIT on Thursday.
The annual scholarship will aid many of the same type of students Amber mentored while she was the editor of the campus newspaper.
Friends and family are amazed with the efforts the foundation has put forward so far.
"The work and the dedication that these people have done it's just...like I know I wouldn't have been able to do this myself. It wouldn't have gone like this and it's just amazing the time, the effort all of it," said Amber's mother Susan.
Susan says her daughter would be so proud of everything that's happened.
