Calgary Flames fans got a first-hand look at some of the new security features at the Saddledome on Thursday night.
The facility is in the process of installing metal detectors at all of the entrances.
Not all of the devices are operational yet, but they soon will be.
Fans will have to get used to the extra security, which also restricts certain items from being brought inside.
They include weapons, aerosol cans, glow sticks, spiked jewelry and many other items.
The new security features may end up causing a delay, so officials are asked to arrive a bit earlier and consider leaving their backpacks or bags at home, because they require extra inspection.
Saddledome staff will also be equipped with metal detecting wands over the next few weeks.
Similar security features are already in place at some other NHL arenas in Denver and Raleigh.
