Calgary police are trying to stop drivers from driving distracted.
Officers are meeting with local businesses to try and get the message out.
Later this fall, the province is expected to introduce new legislation to deal with the problem.
Some businesses have already banned the use of cell phones by their drivers.
Newfoundland and Labrador brought in Canada's first handheld cell phone ban in 2002.
