Calgary police are looking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect in a savage assault on a taxi driver in summer 2014.

At just after midnight on August 10, 2014, a cab driver picked up a man in the area of Woodpark Boulevard S.W., driving him across the city to Aboyne Way N.E.

The passenger paid his fare, but while the driver was passing him his change, the man attacked him, punching him the face several times.

The driver began to honk the horn, attracting attention and prompting the man to flee the scene.

Police say there was no robbery attempt made during the incident.

The driver suffered facial injuries as a result of the attack.

Investigators are now asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect, who is described as:

  • Caucasian
  • 5’6” to 5’8”
  • Medium build
  • Unshaven, with red hair

The man was seen wearing a beige long-sleeved T-shirt, a beige baseball hat, and blue jeans.
