A 13-year-old boy is facing a charge of second-degree murder in connection to the stabbing death of a man outside a northeast mall last weekend.

Gabriel Okeynan, 45, of Calgary, was stabbed outside Marlborough Mall on Friday June 20, 2014 just before midnight and died in hospital on Tuesday from his injuries.

Police later determined that Okeynan was attacked by a group, believed to be youths, and charged a 16-year-old with second-degree murder on Wednesday.

On Friday, police announced that a 13-year-old was also charged on Wednesday with second-degree murder in connection to the homicide.

Neither teen can be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Police say they believe it was a random incident and robbery was the motive.

They say they are not looking for any other suspects at this time.
