Shoppers Drug Mart is asking all Alberta women to check their current birth control medication after human error resulted in expired medication being shipped to stores.
About 100 customers in Alberta, B.C., Saskatchewan, and Manitoba who bought Alesse-21 are affected.
Officials say the medication expired in September 2014.
According to the report, the following Alberta Shoppers Drug Mart locations received the expired product:

The company says that by the time they realized the problem, they called every customer they could that they knew to be affected by the recall.
Officials are also offering to replace the expired product and provide further information and counselling if needed.
