The City of Calgary has declared a 72 hour city wide parking ban on all snow routes effective Sunday, November 11, 2012 at 1:00 p.m.

The decision follows the significant accumulation of snow on city streets following Thursday and Friday’s blast of winter weather.

Snow Routes are designated by blue signs with a white snowflake icon.  The routes consist of major roadways, collector roads and bus routes.

Owners are asked to move their vehicles off of designated snow routes until the parking ban is lifted.  Violators are subject to fines and may have there vehicles towed.

In the first three hours of the ban, the city has ticketed more than 50 vehicles.  The fine for not moving a vehicle from a snow route is $75.

A map of all Snow Routes and information on the parking ban is available on the city’s website.
