RCMP confirm all lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway are open west of Brooks following three Friday morning crashes.

Heavy fog in the area is believed to have contributed to the collisions that occurred at the Highway 36 intersection, the Range Road 150 intersection and the Range Road 156 intersection.

Shortly after 8:30 a.m., RCMP officers responded to a crash on Highway 1 involving three semis. One person was transported from the scene to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

At around the same time, a loaded cattle liner was struck by two tractor units at the Range Road 150 intersection. Three people were transported to hospital. Approximately 20 cattle were either fatally injured or euthanized at the scene. The remaining livestock was rounded up and contained.
