The Trans-Canada Highway is open again after RCMP closed all eastbound lanes so they could investigate a deadly crash.

An 86 year old woman from Calgary was killed Monday when a westbound semi crossed the highway near Scott Lake Hill and smashed into an eastbound minivan.

The minivan was being driven by a 48 year old woman who sustained minor injuries.  A 14 year old boy, also riding in the van, was seriously injured while an 11 year old girl in the same vehicle suffered minor injuries.

Both the 44 year old man driving the semi and a 37 year old male passenger suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Sergeant Dave Hardy with the Cochrane Integrated Traffic Unit says witnesses say the semi was making a lane change when it entered the median and came across the traffic lanes.

The eastbound lanes of the highway were closed for about eight hours.
