Friends and supporters of Neil Bantleman, the former Calgary teacher on trial for sexual assault in Indonesia, are organizing a vigil at the school where he used to teach.

Bantleman, along with a teaching aide, are both on trial in Indonesia for alleged sex crimes that took place at the International School in Jakarta, where he worked.

The pair has been in prison since their arrest in July of last year.

His wife and family maintain that he is innocent and have been lobbying the federal government to step in on his behalf. As yet, Ottawa has made no action.

So far in the trial, Bantleman’s defence has questioned the testimony given by the alleged victims, saying that it cannot be trusted.

They have attempted to have the charges against Bantleman dismissed to no avail.

The vigil will take place at Webber Academy, located at 1515 93 Street S.W., at 7 p.m.
