A popular Wendy’s location on Macleod Trail has been shut down after a routine inspection by health officials uncovered several violations.

Officials with Alberta Health Services found more than a dozen critical violations during a surprise inspection of the restaurant located at 71 Ave. and Macleod Trail S.W.

They say they found black mould along with structural damage due to plumbing and leaks.

“The facility was due for an inspection,” says Sarah Nunn with the AHS. “The inspector arrived at the facility and found multiple critical violations and in her professional opinion thought there was a risk to health. So, in that case, we performed a closure.”

The restaurant is cooperating with AHS officials and will not reopen until inspectors deem it safe.
