A 26-year-old man has been apprehended by members of the Medicine Hat Police Service (MHPS) in connection with the discovery of a female body late Saturday night.

According to police, a missing persons investigation led officers to a location near the intersection of Prince Street and Maple Avenue Southeast at approximately 10:00 p.m.

The missing man was located and police collected undisclosed evidence and information that directed them to a home in the 800 block of 3 Street Southeast. On the property, officers located the lifeless body of a female.

The nature of the victim’s death has not been released but police have deemed the death a homicide. As of Sunday morning, police have not confirmed the victim’s identity. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.

A 26-year-old man was arrested in connection with the homicide. The identity of the accused has not been released as he has not been formally charged.

Investigators believe the victim and the suspect were known to one another.

The investigation into the homicide continues. Police executed a search warrant at the home on Sunday morning.
