It’s been 20 years since WestJet took to the skies as a discount airline, and the service has grown a lot since it began back in 1996.

WestJet now flies to over 100 destinations in North America, Central America, the Caribbean, and Europe.

As part of its birthday, the company is offering a number of discounted flights, in addition to a bonus of 20 WestJet dollars for travelers who register and make their booking with the WestJet Rewards ID.

Some of the discounted flights include Victoria to Calgary (one way) for $128.23, Calgary to Houston (one way) for $188.40, and Calgary to Saskatoon (one way) for $136.63.

Bookings for WestJet’s sale flights need to be made by March 7 for travel between April 1 and June 28, 2016, excluding May 18-25, which are blackout dates.

More information on WestJet’s anniversary sale can be found on the official website.

WestJet has also created a strong culture of giving back to the community through its history, with its highly anticipated Christmas campaigns which have featured special gifts for guests and building playgrounds in developing nations.

The airline held a celebration with its staff and Federal Transportation Minster Marc Garneau.

WestJet officially opened for business on February 5, 1996, but flights didn’t start until the 29th of that year.

Service to Westjet's newest destination, London's Gatwick Airport, begins in May.
