A Calgary based not-for-profit organization which rescues and rehabilitates injured and orphaned wild animals is asking for Canadians to show their support by voting in a contest which could land the agency a portion of a $100,000 donation.
The Calgary Wildlife Rehabilitation Society (CWRS) is one of five wildlife organizations vying for part of the prize in Jamieson’s Laboratories “Call for the Wild”.
Jamieson’s has earmarked $100,000 for the contest with the five organizations receiving a percentage of the prize equal to the percentage of the votes they receive on the Facebook page.
CWRS receives no government funding and survives on a shoestring budget. The society is the smallest of the organizations taking part in the competition.
The competing agencies are:
- Vancouver Aquarium Marine Mammal Rescue Centre - British Columbia
- BurlingtonGreen Environmental Association – Ontario
- McGill Bird Observatory – Quebec
- Hope for Wildlife Society – Nova Scotia
