Canada Dayyc – our city, our country, our celebration

Join the Party on July 1!

Living Flag

Riverfront Avenue (between 1 Street SE and Macleod Trail SE)

4 p.m. - 6 p.m.

Show your national pride, and be a part of the Canada Dayyc living flag! The first three thousand people to check-in are invited to receive a free red or white t-shirt to participate in this enormously popular activity. Anyone else wearing red or white is welcome to join as well. The Living Flag will be lead by performers of Loose Moose Theatre who will provide improv entertainment and humorous antics until the final photographic moment and singing of our national anthem.

First Nations Powwow

Prince’s Island Park

10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Explore a proud part of your Canadian heritage at a Powwow presented by the Iniikokaan Aboriginal Centre of Bow Valley College. Prince’s Island Park comes alive with the heartbeat of Canada’s First Nations people as they showcase aboriginal culture and dress through storytelling, music and dance. Join us as we celebrate the rich contributions of First Nations people to our life and culture in Canada.

Food Truck Roundup & BassBus

Festival Market (between the YMCA and Eau Claire Market)

5 p.m. - 11 p.m.

Food trucks a plenty will be serving up some of Calgary’s most popular street eats at Festival Market near Eau Claire. Have a seat in the laid-back dining hub, or bring a blanket and have a picnic nearby. Either way, refuel before the evening’s festivities while listening to the musical stylings of local DJ’s presented by BassBus. Dishes and beverages will be served from a diverse range of Japanese, Greek, Italian, and modern Canadian menus. Remind your inner foodie to bring along some cash, as not all trucks accept cards.

Riverfront Stage

Harry Hays Building (on the North lawn facing the Bow River)

6 p.m. - 11 p.m.

Official Canada Dayyc ceremonies kick off at 6pm, and the stage will erupt with some of Canada’s most acclaimed performing artists including Mother Mother, Michael Bernard Fitzgerald, Ridley Bent and Scarlett Jane. Grooving to the sounds of indie, rock, pop, and folk, Canada Dayyc celebrations on Riverfront Stage offer a little something for everyone. The high-energy beats will capture audiences and build momentum in anticipation of the fireworks show at the end of the evening.
