A quiet afternoon in a southwest coffee shop was interrupted by a vehicle crashing through the store's wall.

Two young women were sitting on a couch chatting at the Starbucks location in Glenmore Landing when a car careened into the building.

Fire crews and the confined space team responded to the scene. Firefighters removed the female driver from the car and EMS transported her to hospital.

The people in the store at the time of the crash, 10 customers and 8 employees, were not injured.

Building engineers are determining the structural safety of the building.

Police are investigating the crash.
