Graduates, staff, and current students gathered at Crescent Heights High School on Saturday to recognize the 100th anniversary of the school’s opening.

The celebration guests made their way through the school’s archives, flipping through the old photographs and yearbooks.

Stewart Hambly, a member of the school’s 1962 graduating class, says decades old friendships were rekindled at the event.

“The recognition when somebody sees somebody that they haven't seen for 40, 50, or 60 years,” said Hambly. “We have people from 1938, a couple ladies came, and a few from the forties.”

“People are just having a great time. If you didn't know someone from your class, chances are that you knew their brother or sister.”

In May of 1915, the school opened its doors with William Aberhart serving as the school’s first principal. Following his time as principal, Aberhart was elected as Alberta’s premier in 1935.

The celebration continued on Saturday night with a banquet and reception at the North Hill Curling Club.
