One-hundred and thirty-two children from Southern Alberta were on a whirlwind trip Wednesday to Disneyland.

They were taking part in the 22nd edition of Dreams Take Flight.

All the travellers are children with special needs who are chosen by various Calgary agencies for this one day vacation.

It’s a chance for the children aged 7 to 12 years old to forget about some of the challenges they face and just enjoy being a kid.

Everything is provided for them, from meals to spending money.

It was easy to spot the kids at Disneyland; they all wear special jerseys and hats.

Dreams Take Flight is a national charity organized by Air Canada employees who volunteer their time.

It started in Toronto in 1989 and expanded to eight cities, including Calgary in 1197.

Air Canada donates the plane which takes the children to either Disneyland or Disneyworld.
